Chapter XXXV: Gabriel saved Magni's butt.

Yup, I did.

_____
Chapter XXXVI: Gabriel performs a Trump Reading

Or:

Gabriel meets another uberpowerful creature that has never been met before ... by him, at least.

Yup, he did, and he learned lots of secret stuff. He may even tell you about it someday.

Chapter XXXVII: Gabriel begins to realize he has issues ...

Gabriel and Magni depart for Amber where we schmooze with the elders.

After appearing, we hear sounds of discontent from Deirdre's room. We rush in to find that Deirdre (the real Deirdre) has appeared (the Tir thing is gone, and so is Aedan). Gabriel ogled Deirdre's naked body but then quickly became disgusted when he saw that she had a tattoo, cast a quick healing spell with some neat lynchpins (do people know about the control I now have over her, Simone, or was it subtle enough that no one caught it?). Flora gave him a disgusted look, but Gabriel ignored her. After all, she does countless actions without thought or care of the throne or the best interests of Amber, so why should I care what she thinks?

As everyone was busy taking care of Deirdre (ignoring the fact that Aedan's body is GONE (hello people! This is your brother!). Gabriel departed and tried to trump him. Instead of the trump being cardboard, it actually worked! He then pulled Aedan through to Amber from his home shadow. we were about to walk away when I casually mentioned that Aedan's mother was now in the castle. Aedan immediately turned and went into her room and fawned at her unconscious, hypothermic feet.

At this point, Gabriel realized that he was in deep shi- excuse me, deep doo-doo for Aedan obviously has some co-dependency issues with his mother. "Hello mother, yes please, hurt me some more. Do you love me now? Let me take that dagger thrust for you." Unfortunately, as his friend, I have no choice but to try and help him, even if that means he will drag me into the grave with him. The worst aspect of all of this is that Aedan will feel no remorse over the anguish he causes his friends. Shi- excuse me, doody, I guess I have some co-dependency issues, too.

::sigh::

Magni and Gabriel then walked down the hall to speak to Benedict and learned lots of really amazing things about life, the universe, the power of the fount, and military exercises. Benedict told us that we are now in charge of the army b/c Magni looks cool and I provide the brains. Well, actually no, but we will be special liaisons to a small branch of them for the next few days. Interestingly enough, Benedict could tell that I had the power of the fount within me ... I did not even notice that he performed a scan of me. It was strange that he did not know I was a trump artist. Boy, will he be surprised when I draw trumps of the people in his special unit.

Chapter XXXVIII: Breakfast at Amber

or

Hey? Are those the royal hounds?

Magni and Gabriel (chums and buddies) arrive at breakfast to find that Aedan's foot stench had wafted over all of the food. Gabriel pecks at his food, but really can't stomach any of it over the smell. After all, despite the fact that we have gamed in game time for six months, Aedan has only taken his boots off once*.

We chat briefly. Aedan says nothing noteworthy, and as a result, neither does Gabriel. After awhile, Aedan gets tired of playing things close to the hilt, and talks of his encounter in the abyss where he basically sells his soul to an uberpowerful being for the mere cost of getting out of the abyss. Sounds like a lousy deal to me. Looking at the scars on his hand, I noted that the energy of the scar was similar to the energy that was let loose upon the death of the Unicorn (whatever that was) at the funeral ceremony.

We mulled that over for a bit, and decided that we could do nothing (yet) with that information.

Deirdre arrived and Gabriel decided that he had better leave so he could actually do something beside tempt her to kill him. But she mistakenly believed that I have an issue with her because of some weird father/son vendetta against her and decided to have a conversation about that in front of everyone. She did not realize I could care less about that, I really just hate her entire being for manipulating her son's will and body to get what she wanted. Her utter lack of care in that matter is morally reprehensible.

Okay, Gabriel still has issues with her. Perhaps we could go on a walk at the abyss, and she could trip into it. And Unicorns can fly out of my butt.

But we decide to let bygones be bygones ... and I must admit, that if I were in an eternal prison of cold and isolation, I, too, might engage in acts of desperation to get out. I would still apologize, though, even if I weren't sorry. Or I would kill everyone present so that there would be no witnesses. Oh wait, she did try to kill me. I forgot about that.

Chapter XXXIX: Gabriel works on his trump

Remember that uberpowerful mysterious being I have told you absolutely nothing about? Well that is okay, Brand and Aedan haven't told you anything about it either.

But if I had told you about it, I would have told you that I was trying to draw its trump. But I was missing some aspect about it. Looking at the scars on Aedan's hand, I decided to add the energy of the Unicorn to it, and it felt right ... but the trump is still missing something and I am uncertain as to what that is ... it is a work in progress.

I was nearly complete with it when I was trumped by Brand:

_____
Chapter XXXX: A little party in Deirdre's room.

Brand, Aedan, Gabriel, and Brand chit chat for awhile.

One highlight was when Brand said:

"You are ridiculous. You are a ludicrous little boy."

Yup, something that Gabriel has been thinking for some time now. Aedan's mother is a danger and a threat and should not be trusted more than you can throw her. I can't wait to talk to Brand in private about everything that is going on. His opinions are often invaluable and insightful.

We talked about a number of things, everyone spoke half-truths except Gabriel who actually said almost nothing ... but realistically, he was a pawn in the room who could only be used as a hostage. It is a good thing I reracked my spells (with ... ahem, two targeting Deirdre in Amber). Okay, I am just being cautious. You never know when she will reveal her true self.

_____
Chapter XXXXI: Further plans:

After the conversation, which actually went better that I thought it would (no one died, including me!), I went down to the parade grounds to meet Benedict's men for a military exercise in shadow.

After that, I was going to engage in some further experiments.

TTFN,
-Gabriel-
