In this section: Gabriel matures a lot!
Chapter XXVII:
Aedan, Magni, Gabriel, and Gregory sit in the sunroom of Amber and plot
_____To sum up, we were bored, couldn't figure out what to do next, and thought of ways we could distract ourselves.
The list follows:
1) Benedict is a raving, psycho, sociopath ... we could try and meet him and see if we could fix him. That sounds intelligent.
2) We could pull out my Trump of the Unicorn Beast (the thing that Bleys fled from and that Brand got his ass kicked by and that Raj ... hmph, right. Well, this is a family show)...
3) Help the king with logistics and stuff
We mulled this list over for awhile. As we were mulling this over, Raj shows up. Gabriel thought about not telling Raj anything for Raj never tells us anything he is doing ... but after awhile cannot help but show off his brilliance and begins to talk.
In short, We sum up our list to him and decide that pursuing option number one sounds pretty damn good.
Raj pulls out Benedict's Trump.
Chapter XXVIII:
Gabriel kicks Benedict's ars-um, ... butt
(thanks KJ, for keeping my vocabulary clean).
_____Well, to be honest ... Gabriel kicked Benedict's butt with the help of everybody in the room ... including Benedict but that part isn't important right now.
Raj trumped Benedict and somehow convinced him that his cousins were strong, capable, and reliable allies. Benedict thought about this for awhile and decided to give us a shot ... Gabriel began to think of Raj with more respect for being able to outright lie with a straight face.
We all go through (somehow Magni got pushed through with us by something impudent that Aedan did) and appear in a cave near the Keep of Four Worlds. As Gabriel realized that Benedict was going to Brand for help, he began to realize how truly desperate Benedict was. "While we may not be as strong or capable as Brand ... we were a damn sight more reliable," thought Gabriel. At that point Aedan appeared in view and Gabriel had to pause ... "most of us, anyway."
Gabriel and Gregory pull up our spooky all-powerful sorcerous powers, touch Benedict and begin to examine his defenses and wards to see what we could to do to destroy them when the time comes ... in short, Benedict's wards kick ass and probably could have fried us over in a number of redundant and elegant ways ... but fortunately, Benedict didn't do that.
The spell that the Unseelie had cast on him had pretty much taken him over and was intertwined completely with his spirit. I do agree that does sound metaphysical, but if you meditate on the pattern as much as I do that phrase would make sense to you, too.
Gregory and I working in concert (and looking quite cool while doing so) begin to create a spell that will destroy the Faerie spell from Benedict's being. As we are doing so, Benedict says, "Not enough time" to Raj. We all mull this meaningless (but totally in character) phrase for awhile. Benedict begins to dive to the ground in an effort to move away from Raj, but Raj will have nothing of it.
I will sum up at this point:
A really cool brawl ensues between Raj and Benedict and between Magni and Aedan. Gregory and Gabriel continue to brawl with the spell. Simone laughs at all of us for we are all completely outclassed in every fight.
But somehow we win. Yeah!
Gabriel's respect for Raj goes up a notch for taking a femoral arterial wound from Benedict without screaming like a baby ... not that I am saying that Gabriel is a wuss ... but he would long be dead from a wound like that ... and he would let everyone know it.
We trump back to the castle, Gabriel collapses in his room. Magni and Gregory collapse in Benedict's room (neither of them trusted the other), and Raj collapses in the infirmary. Aedan doesn't collapse at all and has tea with the servants.
The next morning, Martin comes into Benedict's room and kicks everybody out and the rest of us have breakfast in the library where we sit bored again.
Gabriel trumps everybody who has ever had the trump virus and warns them to get rid of it to keep a re-infection from occurring. While trumping Flora, we discover that she is awakening all of the Fae who had apparently all been in Tir when they got turned to stone.
We decide that going there and helping her would be a great solution to our boredom so we all trump through.
Chapter XXIX:
Flora is desperateJust like Benedict was in dire straits and was looking for Brand but we would do in a pinch ... Flora was in the same situation.
Magni and she begin doing cool oogie-spooky stuff to the Fae and Aedan does some sorcerous stuff, too. Gabriel looks on quite bored for he still cannot figure out why we are really bothering with these faerie bimbos and bimbettes.
Chapter XXX:
Gabriel falls in love
-- or --
Magni reveals he has conjuration
The first Fae to pop out is a somewhat attractive woman ... she then uses glamour and becomes the future Ex-Mrs. Gabriel.
She says some things but Gabriel doesn't pay attention. Magni, in an effort to save his cousin from embarrassment, tells him to do some work on the Derga. Gabriel does so and then turns his attention back to his new love. The Faerie tries to get Raj's attention but he will have nothing of it. Gabriel has a flashback as he remembers the times he has played hard to get in bars and how it never really worked for him. He smirks in satisfaction when it doesn't work for Raj, either.
We rescue another Fae (but Gabriel wasn't really paying any attention to who he was or what his role is (OOC: he was the brother of Lugh but is not in line for the throne) ...
At this point, Aedan comes over to speak to the Faerie woman and I. Gabriel realized that she is holding his cloak wrapped around her finger ... he never realized how good her hand looked when it was ... ahem, right this is a family show.
