Chapter 19:
Gregory and Gabriel attempt to waltz into fairy

Gregory's trump with Ailill was short, one-sided, and thoroughly unsatisfactory. Ailill seemed to be having a nice big Unseelie party when the contact went through, and he seemed unamused to have us contact him.

We informed him of the curse, the spell, and the makers. He was impressed that the makers involved trump in the weave of the spell for that is not only very difficult to do (for wussy non-Amberites ... and Faery people think they are tough ... Gabriel has lost what little respect he had for Faery magicians after hearing that ... but I digress) and there are but a handful of makers capable of doing so.

We asked if he could help us track these makers down for we were/are extremely interested in talking to them. He seemed to almost think about our question before replying that he would look into the matter for us, for there is no way that we would be able to talk to them.

This was somewhat confusing for we weren't sure if:

A) They were unseelie makers and Ailill didn't want us to screw with them

B) After doing whatever they did for Julian, they went so far into hiding that it would be a waste of energy to even try to find them

or

C) Something so nefarious that we cannot even begin to guess is going on.

Gabriel suspects A or B ... Ameer (OOC) thinks that it is C.

But I (again) digress.

After the conversation, Gregory and I thought about it for a bit and gathered that Ailill would look into the matter to ensure that Giselle is safe but after that he would wash his hands of us ... so we could not find a direct method of finding out what the curse is that is effecting Benedict nor how to get rid of it.

I am still thinking of trumping Ailill back and forcing a trump contract down his throat to make him help us or die ... but then I realized I wasn't my father ... and Gregory wouldn't give me the trump so I couldn't do it on s own later even if he wanted to do so.

Alas.

Chapter 20:
Gregory and Gabriel trump Giselle
-- or --
Gregory says "bugger"

At this point, we trump Giselle ...

After reaching her, we immediately went through to her workroom where she was working on a spell to find out how to get rid of the curse on Benedict. It seemed that it would take her some time to finish it off. Gabriel almost sniffed with derision at the waste of time and effort involved with hermetic magic ... but we have already established that Gabriel is a sophomoric snob.

Anyway, we chatted for some time about the predicament and what we could do about it. There seemed two courses of action:

A) Trump Benedict and see if telling him how we defeated the curse would help him defeat it

and/or

B) Let Giselle continue her work to find out how Benedict could get rid of this thing

We decided to pursue both plans, I would Trump Benedict ... if what I did worked, Giselle could stop her work.

Chapter 21:
Gabriel trumps Benedict and nearly does a bad thing

The trump went cold. Immediately after trumping, I could feel that Benedict was walking through shadow ... once the contact was established he began "walking" towards me through shadow. That was not a comforting thought for he was pulling out a pistol while doing so. Being the arrogant bastard that he was, he didn't let me speak first, but beat me to the punch by asking me where my father was.

Being the arrogant bastard that I am, I almost didn't tell him. But I honestly did not know where Brand was, and after realizing that that answer would piss him off more than lying about it, told him so.

If he was pissed off about it ... he didn't show it. This made me pissed off. I probably failed to hide my frustration, which further pissed me off. But rather than dwell on the fact that I had lost the first round of many rounds, I changed the subject and told him about our investigations of the spell/curse and the ward I used to defeat it.

He seemed interested but did not thank me and tried to end the contact as he put his gun away and began walking away in shadow somewhere else ... towards Brand?

I thought about pushing the contact using the Font Power, telling Benedict that I was helping him because I care about Amber and those connected with the family and screw (Gabriel used stronger words in his thoughts but this is a family document) Benedict if his ego continued to get in the way of the survival of Amber and the throne.

After realizing this would be a very short-lived but satisfactory thing to say, I let the trump contact go rather than risk death again.

Chapter 22
Gabriel trumps Brand

To sum up: Brand thought the whole curse thing was really really funny because Julian wasn't around to actually see it work. I sort of saw the amusement in it ... but did not fall on the floor laughing like Brand did.

I told Brand that Benedict wanted to track him down.

Chapter 23:
The G-men go home

Gregory and Gabriel (the dynamic G-Duo) decided to go back to Amber, for Martin needed to know what was going on. We did so. Martin was not amused but couldn't do anything about it. He instead told us to have Magni see him at his earliest convenience. He actually used stronger language ... but remember, this is a family show.

Magni and Aedan appeared in the castle (is anyone else bothered by the fact that these two spend so much time together ...? I thought so) and Magni went to talk to Martin. Magni came back and we were all in a side room about to tell people what we did when the game ended for the day.

PS: Guy has accused Gabriel's logs of being "a pack of lies." As a result, I defy Guy to find one untruth ... heck (I would use a word for the nether realms there ... but this is a family email), I challenge Guy to find a half-truth in this email. I spilt my guts for this and the chances of this ever happening again are rare. See you guys on Saturday!
