1) How do you feel about the fact that your parent is extremely powerful compared to yourself and, even moreso, compared to shadow dwellers? Have you adopted their attitudes or rebelled against them?
Of course my father is awesomely powerful compared to mere shadow dwellers, since his is a Being of Reality. The same can be said of all my uncles and aunts in Amber - they deserve the power they have by the nature of their blood. Shadow means little to those of us with real power.
2) How do you feel about the fact that Amber is denied to you, at least "until you're ready?"
Fuck 'em all. Even my father. They have relegated me to live in exile because I'm not ready yet? I was born ready with Amber blood in my veins. Walking the Pattern showed me how much there can be in life, and now it is denied to me? What gives them the right? And how can someone I love betray me like that in the guise of "protecting me?" My life is nothing without Amber.
3) If your Amber parent could be different than they were, what one thing would you most like to change about them?
Trust. Why couldn't Gerard trust my survival instincts enough to let me live with him in Amber? I hardly had a chance to know him before he stuck me back in shadow. I could have handled myself in the family, and would have made him proud if he gave me the chance to prove myself. Instead, I sit here day after day and grow numb.
4) What would you most like to do with your Amber parent, in an ideal world?
A season-long exploration of the majestic Forest Arden - just Gerard, me, and the clothes on our back. Survival at its best as we set up shelter, forage and hunt for food, and become one with the wilderness. Perhaps we'd even let uncle Julian and Caine visit for a while. It would be a great experience.
5) Do you respect or fear your Amber parent?
No. He deserved neither.
6) What do you want most from your Amber parent?
Direction, and a place of reality I can finally call home.
