1) How do you feel about the fact that your parent is extremely powerful compared to yourself and, even moreso, compared to shadow dwellers? Have you adopted their attitudes or rebelled against them?
A bit of envy, and a strong competitive spirit have almost assured my adoption of my parent's attitudes.2) How do you feel about the fact that Amber is denied to you, at least "until you're ready?"
Annoyed and determined to prove myself.
3) If your Amber parent could be different than they were, what one thing
would you most like to change about them?
I wish he could spend a day with me without delivering some sort of object lesson as the days events unfold.--simone:
It hasn't happened yet.--david:
I figured.4) What would you most like to do with your Amber parent, in an ideal world?
Beat him, just once, in a fair contest.--jesse/benedict:
All contests are fair, in the great scheme of things.--david/duncan:
Fair, in this context, means by my rules.5) Do you respect or fear your Amber parent?
Respect of course, what would I have to fear?--simone:
We-ell, his temper is a sight to behold. It falls hard and sometimes in extreme -- perhaps these are more of his "object lessons," lessons obviously to be learned by the survivors only. You know it annoys him that Julian's rangers follow Julian out of apparent devotion, while your father's men follow him out of either awe or abject terror. He's a god to them, not a man. This is almost always good, but sometimes... he'd like them to look him in the eye, maybe.--david:
But his actions and judgment are measured in response to the offense and the situation. Duncan would say that they are scaled to produce the most effective results. Since Duncan is more than a little prideful himself, he really can't picture himself making such a terrible mistake, or even making a minor mistake in the kind of delicate situation that would provoke such an event. I'm sure Duncan has needed scolding a few times, but nothing so severe that it called for cutting him down to keep the rest of the troops in line.6) What do you want most from your Amber parent?
His respect.
--simone:
Again, if it's happened, he hasn't mentioned it.--david:
And again, pretty much exactly what I was expecting as a player.* * *
