Andrew Notes
2005

Hi Val,

Just wanted to give you a heads-up that the first thing for you in the game would be to resolve where you are going, if anywhere, from the Pattern room. I like what you have articulated to me in your emails about Andrew's ambivalence and indecision about what he has done, so we will probably be asking you more about that right off... just to get you in the mindset.

--Val
Well part of my problem is that I'm not sure how much, aside form the armor, this force I accepted did to me.

--Simone
How could you know? Your uncertainty reflects the information Andrew has been presented with.

--Val
Andrew would have probems killing Rio and anyone else he's close to. Not that close to the Elders, though he likes Uncle Corwin and Uncle Bleys. Doesn't understand that confused AEF/SEALS combat mixup.

--Simone
Boys and their toys, eh?

--Val
Really. Things do get confused in war, but Bleys is better than that...

Is his mother in his mind? Is she guiding him in any of this?

--Simone
That is up to you.

--Val
There were 3 figures... The unicorn, his mother, and I forget the third one. Her pattern ghost might be there. He would spend a few moments just embracing the fact he still has some part of her... He loved her, after all, thorns and rose alike.

Will go after the Elders if he has power, and, if not kill them, banish them to a comfortable world, where they can rebuild, but never return. Corwin said the pattern was corrupt. Maybe it can be rebuilt with innocence (andrew is essentially an innocent), but we must first eliminate the guilty, without becoming corrupted ourselves... Without killing them if possible. Do I have the power to banish them?

--Simone
How would you find out?

--Val
Well, The force did tell me to kill them as they were enemies of the pattern. I'm having problems getting my mind around this. I've killed in war or self-defense, but never been sent out to commit mass murder.

See if I can sense the remnants of the old pattern in the elders. Go, try to banish them if it will let me. I'm not sure how, but the pattern is also a gate to other worlds... With surprise I may be able to do this. To kill them...Success, without a lot of power would be doubtful. They're faster and stronger than I am ...or maybe than I was. Brand got away from me easily enough in the pattern room.

Let me know if I'm off track here.

--Simone
No, this is perfect. It really helps me understand where Andrew will be and what his mental state is at the start of the game.

--Val
Try Very Confused... This is sort of like the movie version of Frankenstein's monster waking up on the slab, going "What just happened?"

--Simone
Remember, though, that Andrew has not been given this power for his purposes, but the "unicorn's." If he forgets that, I'm sure she'll remind him.

--Val
He will ask the voice if killing them is absolute, or if draining their power, banishing them is an option... He's not a monster...
