The Book of Myths — Origins

What a world we have made - thanks to Dan, Guy, James, Sara, Ameer, Vrin, and Todd

This campaign truly came out of the results of The Winds that Will Be which in turn had come out of the results of Dave de Jong's convention game, Mine Fill of Blood and Glory. You can read more about that part of the story here.

But just as The Winds that Will Be was not a continuation of Dave's game, but rather a game of its own, The Book of Myths should stand alone. With its setup and background long past, it has a history that is shrouded by time and interpretation.

Inspirations

The tone and setting of the game were also inspired by the original players of Winds that Will Be as well as by several poems, "Musee des Beaux Arts" by W. H. Auden, "Naming of Parts" by Henry Reed, "Diving into the Wreck" by Adrienne Rich; a long-ago-defunct campaign run by great UK game-master, Justin Parsler; and music by R.E.M., Robbie Robertson and many many others.

Like in Winds that Will Be, the nature, plot, tone, and setting of the game will also develop on the fly, influenced by the PC's own actions.
